History

Vermont became the 14th state on March 4, 1791.

Its quarter depicts Camel's Hump Mountain behind a scene of maple trees being tapped for sap.

Maple sugaring has long been closely associated with Vermont's culture and agricultural heritage, while Camel's Hump is one of the state's most recognizable mountain landmarks.

The coin carries the inscription “Freedom and Unity,” Vermont's state motto.
