Arizona State Quarter Coin Ring

The Arizona State Quarter was released on June 2, 2008. Arizona was also the 48th state admitted to the United States, joining the Union on February 14, 1912.

The quarter's reverse features two unmistakable symbols of Arizona: the Grand Canyon and a Saguaro cactus. The Grand Canyon stretches across the background of the design, while the towering Saguaro stands prominently in the foreground.

Between the two is a banner reading “Grand Canyon State.” There's actually a purpose behind its placement: the U.S. Mint specifically used the banner to separate the Grand Canyon from the Saguaro because Saguaro cacti do not grow within the Grand Canyon. It's a small detail that gives the coin's design a little more meaning.

The coin also bears the inscriptions “Arizona” and “1912,” commemorating the year Arizona became the final state admitted to the contiguous United States. The reverse was designed by Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by Joseph Menna.

When the quarter is transformed into a ring, portions of the Grand Canyon, Saguaro, lettering, and other original details wrap around the band, giving every Arizona Coin Ring its own character.

Why Can't I Choose the State AND the Year?

One of the most common questions about our State Quarter Coin Rings is whether you can choose both a state and a specific year.

Unfortunately, each state design was only produced during its designated year in the 50 State Quarters Program.

For Arizona, that year is 2008.

That means an authentic Arizona State Quarter Coin Ring will always be made from a 2008 Arizona quarter. An Arizona State Quarter from 1995, 2001, or another year simply does not exist.
