History

New York became the 11th state to ratify the Constitution on July 26, 1788.

Its quarter features the iconic Statue of Liberty superimposed over an outline of New York State. Lines tracing the Hudson River and Erie Canal recognize waterways that played an enormous role in New York's growth and development.

The design is accompanied by 11 stars, representing New York's position as the 11th state, and the inscription “Gateway to Freedom.”

When transformed into a ring, portions of these symbols and inscriptions wrap around the band, creating a wearable connection to the Empire State.
