History

Idaho became the 43rd state on July 3, 1890.

Its quarter prominently features a peregrine falcon alongside an outline of Idaho. The peregrine was once endangered across much of the United States and became a notable conservation success story.

The design also carries Idaho's state motto, “Esto Perpetua,” meaning “May it be perpetual.”
